The short version

TravelSmart turns a travel conversation into a day-by-day itinerary through five stages: it captures the trip constraints, researches candidate places, designs the days, verifies venue facts against Google Maps data, and only then writes the finished plan. The language model handles qualitative judgment — what fits the traveler and how a day should feel — while code and provider data handle venue identity, coordinates, and opening-hour checks. That separation is deliberate: taste needs judgment; factual validation needs evidence.

1. The conversation becomes a planning brief

TravelSmart first separates hard constraints — destination, dates, travelers, budget, and booked commitments — from softer preferences such as pace, food, nightlife, museums, or time outdoors. The itinerary is not generated until the traveler asks to plan it, which leaves room to clarify the trip instead of locking in the first prompt.

2. Research is kept as evidence, not discarded

While the conversation develops, TravelSmart researches candidate areas, venues, and practical constraints into a trip-specific dossier. Sources and place data remain attached to the planning context, so the final planner can use the research already gathered rather than inventing a clean-looking schedule from model memory.

3. The planner designs the days as a whole

The planner chooses places and sequences them at the itinerary level. It groups stops by neighborhood, balances the traveler’s interests across the trip, and considers the shape of each day before filling individual time slots. That matters because a collection of individually good recommendations can still make a terrible trip when they sit on opposite sides of a city.

4. Venue facts go through a deterministic check

After planning, TravelSmart checks venue identities against Google Maps data and backfills coordinates, place identifiers, photos, and opening hours. “Deterministic” means this verification step follows code and provider results rather than asking another language model to judge whether a venue probably exists. Conflicts and closures can therefore be caught before the itinerary is written.

5. The verified plan becomes the itinerary

Only after verification does TravelSmart write the organized day-by-day itinerary. The result keeps the neighborhood grouping, route order, timing, and verified place details together. Travelers can then refine the plan in chat instead of rebuilding it from scratch whenever one stop changes.

Verified does not mean frozen forever

TravelSmart verifies the place data available while a trip is being planned. Restaurants can change hours, attractions can sell out, weather can disrupt transport, and temporary closures may appear after the plan is created. Travelers should still confirm time-sensitive details with the venue or operator before making a non-refundable booking. TravelSmart is a planning product, not the venue, transport operator, or booking merchant.

The point of verification is to reduce avoidable planning errors, not to pretend travel data never changes. That is also why TravelSmart keeps the itinerary editable: a useful plan should survive reality.
